Getting ready for the biggest tournament of the year is never easy. Especially when you lose two members from your green keeping team and still have the same amount of work to do!
Needless to say it’s been a very busy few weeks. However the team were immense, starting early, and working late into the evening but with a little help from friends within the industry by way of additional machinery and man power we have managed to pull it all together in time for the big day.
The course played magnificently, all the surfaces looked stunning and the greens rolled in at 13.2 on the stimp meter. The average on tour is 11!
41 teams took to the course to test their skills and the scoring was fair with the winning team total of 128 (best 2 from 4 balls). The winning team, Oxford’s very own member group of Gary Goymer and company. Their pro Robbie Nicholson from North Oxford also finished tied 3rd place in the pro event. The joint winners of which were last year’s winner Tom Fleming and young Joe Simpson carding creditable 68’s (-2).
A cracking day to get us in shape for a great summer of golf!
